The Bees and Birds project is expanding to include several other services which may be of interest to the people you are working with, or other organisations locally. I am contacting you as you either expressed an interest or someone has put you forward as an organisation that may be interested.
At the moment, we have been supporting people who cannot access their contraceptive appointments by supplying condoms and sanitary towels and have also created a Boredom Corner which was located in Mill Hill in Blackburn. Food supplies have also been provided to those who need it and we have delivered (sanitised) books, jigsaws and toys to people in need. We have also run online pub quizzes and a book club.
We are looking to continue offering all of the above but with a befriending service too. This will involve weekly zoom chats with groups, online games, one to one phone calls with people who are isolating or lonely and running errands. We would like to work with people of all ages, abilities and gender. Some will be included in groups and other people we can deal with on a one to one basis. Book clubs will be run according to interests, reading abilities and interests.
Please keep us in mind if you think that this service may be of interest to your organisation or anyone that you work with. I’m sure you feel the same as me in that we need to provide as much help as we can during these difficult times.
I am contactable via email (please don’t reply all) or by my telephone number 07545 810798.
