We are looking for members of community organisations based in Blackburn to help with a research project on transport and social inclusion between August and December 2022.
This is a paid opportunity to work as research assistants alongside Anna Plyushteva (University of Oxford) and Sherin Francis (Jacobs) on a project which examines barriers faced by people in Blackburn in using public transport. Full training will be provided.
The research assistants will be conducting a survey in the local community and facilitating focus groups with residents. This will involve visiting locations (both residential and places of work) along bus routes 1 and 6/7 (see map here). Research assistants will work in pairs.
The successful candidates will be excellent time managers, reliable, independent, and able to communicate in an engaged and considerate manner with many different people. Fluency in languages other than English is an asset. Candidates will have to demonstrate that they have the right to work in the UK.
We expect to recruit up to five research assistants. Each will be hired for a total of 150 hours, to be completed between August and December 2022. The hourly rate is £14.75. There is some flexibility in working hours, and we will do our best to work around other commitments such as study, work, and caring responsibilities. There will be two or three team meetings to attend over the course of the project (paid), but we will endeavour to plan these around everyone’s schedules.
If you have any questions about these roles, please email Anna on anna.plyushteva@ouce.ox.ac.uk To apply, please submit your application using this form no later than Friday, 8 July 2022. We will respond to all candidates by Tuesday 12 July. We expect to conduct online interviews with shortlisted candidates on 18 and 19 July.
