Know a fantastic volunteer who deserves recognition for the selfless work they do? Nominate them in this year’s Community Volunteer Awards.

Through our Community Volunteer Awards, Community CVS and Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council aim to reward individuals and organisations for the great work you do in and around the Borough.

In particular, we are keep to hear from people in the community who would like to nominate their volunteering heroes for our Young People’s Award and Good Neighbour Award.

Young People’s Award

Do you know a wonderful young person that volunteers? Helps out their neighbours? Helps litter pick? Or simply helps to make their neighbourhood or local community a better place to live or work?

If so then nominate them today!

There are two Young People’s Awards, which are given to any young person who volunteers to make their neighbourhood or local community a better place to live or work, as well as any organisation whose enthusiasm and dedication has made an outstanding voluntary contribution to giving children and young people the best start in life within Blackburn with Darwen.

Good Neighbour Award

Similarly, our Good Neighbour Award is awarded to the volunteer that helps make their neighbourhood or local community a better place to live or work.

We all know them. We see them every day. They may be doing the simplest things, doing favours for people who, for whatever reason, are unable to, say, get the the shops or look after their home and garden.

These are the unsung heroes in every neighbourhood and community. Their contribution is invaluable, touching so many lives. It is only right that they should be rewarded – and these are exactly the sort of people for whom the Community Volunteer Awards were set up.

In addition to a trophy, this year all our winners will be given a Holiday Voucher courtesy of national charity: Room to Reward. Winners will be able to use these vouchers for a 2 night stay free of charge, including Bed and Breakfast in a hotel of their Choice.

The closing date for nominations in this year’s Community Volunteer Awards is Friday 30th August 2024.

The awards will be held at King George’s Hall on Thursday 7th November, with the BBC’s Graham Liver hosting.

Among the sponsors of the 2024 Community Volunteer Awards are:
