Following an application and interview process the BwD Community Network Board is delighted to confirm that Vicky Shepherd has been appointed as Chair of the Blackburn with Darwen Community Network (BwD CN)

BwD CN is a new partnership of Voluntary Community Faith and Social Enterprise (VCFSE) organisations and groups in Blackburn with Darwen which has been set up to support positive change in partnership with the Borough Council, the NHS, and other key partners.

The Objective of the BwD CN is to be the “Network of Networks” bringing everyone together, Empower and celebrate the achievements of the VCSFE Sector. By involving the residents and listening to the seldom heard voices create a shared plan across organisations and networks in Blackburn with Darwen to ensure a better future for all.

Vicky has worked in the voluntary sector in Blackburn with Darwen for over 25 years and is Chief Executive of Age UK Blackburn with Darwen and a trustee of Care Network. She also currently represents the VCFSE sector on a number of key boards including the Health and Wellbeing Board and Place Partnership.

Vicky will be working with the other 11 members of the Community Network board to develop and deliver a workplan which continues to raise the profile of the vital and valuable work that local voluntary, community, faith and social enterprise organisations do with local people; and to influence the policies, strategies and delivery of public sector partners including the Local Authority and NHS.

I look forward to working with my fellow board members, and the wider Community Network to increase and make the most of the opportunities available and to find solutions to the challenges”
