The Phoenix Hub applied to the Community Asset Fund in May for the second time and were awarded another £2000. The group wanted funds to continue the amazing work that they do at their one stop shop hub which supports many vulnerable adults.
Due to the success of the Hub and the large increasing numbers they attract, they have gone from opening 3 times a week to 5 days a week. They have increased their number of volunteers and put them through the volunteer training and Recovery Access Point training delivered by Community CVS.
The group recently celebrated one year of being open and were visited by BBC Radio Lancashire who reported on the success of their project.
The Phoenix Hub provides hot breakfasts for their attendees and hand out fresh clothing to those who need it. People are able to do their laundry and make use of the shower facilities. Other services such as Spark drug and alcohol support and Brook sexual health and benefit advice are also operating out of the hub so people can get their needs met in one place. Beneficiaries of the Hub can access free hair cuts and food parcel referrals.
The Hub has a homely vibe and everyone is welcome and as Sandra says
No one is ever turned away
Sandra and the Volunteers have a great rapport with the beneficiaries and many of them have lived experience of some of the issues people who attend are facing.
The Community Asset fund is available to grassroot community groups whose project will benefit the recovery community in BwD.
