The Community Kitchen were successful with their application to the Community Asset Fund in April and received £2000 towards the running of their project.
The Peer led group provides a safe welcoming environment where people can go and have a free meal and hot drink twice a week at St. Luke’s Church. They also have a space where people can come together to play board games and do arts and craft projects. They also provide provisions for families during the school holidays.
The group have around 11 volunteers that support over two days and this increases to 15 during school holidays when they do day outings. The group have diverse range of people attending from hostels the recovery community, elderly and refugees. Community Kitchen fed all attendees for the Euros each match had a meal attached and one of these was in partnership with Crossfit180 and held at their venue.
The Community Asset Fund is available to grassroots community groups whose project will benefit the recovery community in BwD.
