Monday 6th March – Involving Volunteers, Day 1: Planning for Volunteer Involvement

Our next Involving Volunteers course begins on Monday 6th March.

The focus of this first day is Planning for Volunteer Involvement, which covers the following areas: –

  • What your responsibilities are when involving volunteers.
  • The policies and procedures that are essential
  • Useful resources and templates.

Wednesday 8th March – International Women’s Day Event

Wednesday 8th March is International Women’s Day – and we’ll be hosting an information and networking event between 11.30am and 1.30pm at the Boulevard Centre.

Friday 10th March – SENDIASS Project Officer deadline

We’re currently looking to recruit a new term-time member of our busy SENDIASS (Special Educational Needs and Disability Information, Advice and Support Service) team, which provides independent and impartial advice and support for parents, children and young people about special educational needs (SEN) procedures as set out in SEN legislation and the SEN Code of Practice 2015.

We are seeking someone with a passion for supporting children and young people with special educational needs or disabilities and their families, a ‘people person’ with the ability to emphasise and emotionally support children, young people and their families, ideally with knowledge and experience of engaging with educational, health and social care institutions.

Your role will be to assist in the development and delivery of the Special Educational Needs and Disability Information, Advice and Support Service in Blackburn with Darwen, which is required to provide free, accurate and impartial information and support to children and young people between the ages of 0-25 and their parents to enable them to make informed decisions about special educational needs provision.

Monday 13th March – Involving Volunteers, Day 2: Getting and Keeping Volunteers

This is the second day of our Involving Volunteers training for volunteer managers and organisers. Today’s focus is on recruiting and retaining volunteers, to ensure the smooth functioning of your services and enabling both your organisation and your volunteers to get the best out of the volunteer experience.

This session offers the following: –

  • How to attract and recruit volunteers
  • How to retain volunteers (induction, personal development, support, recognition and involvement)
  • Useful resources and templates.

Wednesday 22nd March – Cyber Security Training for Small Charities, Community Groups and Social Enterprises

Do you work for a small charity, community group or social enterprise? If so, we’re here to help you learn how to be more “tech-savvy” when it comes to keeping your data safe.

We’ve teamed up with the National Cyber Security Centre and NAVCA to offer groups such as yours Cyber Security Training.

The sessions are based around material produced by the NCSC, highlighting a variety of ways in which your data security can be compromised and what you can do to keep hackers and scammers at bay.

Tuesday 28th March – An Introduction to Social Investment with The Key Fund

We’re absolutely delighted to have Chris Colwell and Adrian Bean of the phenomenal Key Fund coming to the Boulevard Centre on Tuesday 28th March.

Chris and Adrian are the experts when it comes to social investment – covering a range of things aimed at creating shared value to benefit communities across the North and Midlands.

You will learn how the Key Fund operates, how social investment can benefit you and our communities – and, if you have a great idea, you can have a one-to-one chat with Chris and Adrian.
